Our Community Food Pantry ensures that any member/s who are struggling to make ends meet have access to food

Our Community Food Pantry ensures that any member/s who are struggling to make ends meet have access to healthy fresh food. We also offer chair-based exercise sessions as well as day trips that are about getting out more and becoming more active.

Local Pantries mean people can bring down their food shopping bills, and access excellent quality food, whilst freeing up more money for other essentials and enabling tight budgets to stretch a little further. They mean that people can stay afloat in tough times, rather than getting into debt/more debt. They also connect people to local services, support and activities and bring about new friendships and networks.

HOPE’s Community Food Pantry is a membership scheme aimed at helping people make their money go further. Our pantry is not a food bank it is more like a food cooperative, there is more dignity and a lot less stigma. But most importantly, you choose the items you want. You are a paying customer.

Food pantries have shown that they:

• Reduce food shopping bills (members can save over £250 over 6 months)

• Provide advice and support

• Help develop skills.

• The length of support and access to the food pantry will be discussed at the time of registration. We will set up an individual action plan with you and review this with you on a regular basis.

Your Visit/Appointment

At your first appointment a member of the team will welcome you into the pantry and explain the coloured coded system by which you choose your items.

They will take your £3 payment.

• You will then shop as you would in any other shop, choosing two items from each of the coded shelves, the fridge and freezer which gives 12 items in total. You can then take fruit and vegetables and any other special offers in addition to these 12 items.

• If you feel you need to talk to a member of the team/staff about anything, please just ask, we are her to support you in total confidence.

• Your next weekly appointment will always be on the same day and time unless you need to change e.g., you have another appointment you need to attend.

• You will need to bring your own shopping bags.

• You will also provide you with a Privacy Policy which tells you how we use and store your data.
