HOPE was established in September 1994, and on the 01 April 2003, HOPE became a registered charity

The Leeds Neighbourhood Network Schemes (NNS) comprises of 37 celebrated voluntary organisations working across the whole of Leeds.

At the start of 1994 Leeds Social Services made Community Care Grants available for Voluntary Organisations to employ a Project Worker for older people. The purpose of the schemes was to set up services such as gardening, decorating, support to carers and to relieve social isolation.

The NNS all work towards providing services to older adults but vary in the type of services they provide as the schemes aim to be ‘service user led’ and therefore welcome suggestions and joint working with the elders in their locality. In addition, the schemes will also vary in the type of work they offer depending on their location in the city so will ensure for example, that they are able to support elders living in areas of deprivation who may have more specific needs or who are experiencing specific issues or crisis. The schemes are unique to the city of Leeds and our innovative approach means many other parts of the country are keen to understand more about what the Networks do and the impact they have.

What People Say About Us

"Without HOPE, I would have nothing, they have helped and supported me so much following the death of my wife.  I was ashamed to ask for help, I shouldn't have been. I had a place to go, to talk and to be listened too.  I am now rebuilding my new life and feeling stronger every day"

Mr S Stanley

What People Say About Us

Ms D Bilton

What People Say About Us

"I was struggling to feed my family and heat the house, I was very down and not sure what to do. A worker at my children's school made a referral to HOPE so I could go to their Food Pantry.  I was embarrassed at first but Trisha a volunteer soon made me feel comfortable. Using the food pantry has meant I had a little more money to use for heating. In November my children were given a hot water bottle and a fleece blanket to help with the cold.  I was given some thermals. HOPE has given me hope once again"

M Davis

We get our funding from grants, contracts, donations. This includes our contract with Leeds City Council - Adult Social Care for our work with our 60 plus community with the aim of reducing isolation and loneliness and improving health and wellbeing.

HOPE also has a team of volunteers who meet regularly to discuss, decide and facilitate fundraising activities throughout the year.  Past activities include, raffles, tombola's,  afternoon teas and the sale of handmade craft items and Christmas cards.

For HOPE to maintain activities and services, we are continually looking for and applying for funding throughout the year.

Who can make a referral?

You can self-refer or ask a friend or family member to help you. We also take referrals from medical professionals, social prescribers, social care and numerous other agencies from across the city.

How do I make a referral?
